Wedding Make-up

On Monday, I attended a bridal make-up course that featured current trend in wedding make-up. I loved the instructors approach to flawless skin and great brows. I have taken many make-up courses in the past, but it had been a while since I've done a full application. It felt good to be back transforming the face with make-up. The class inspired me to do a post featuring wedding make-up. Bridal season has started...and I;m sure that a lot of you (like me) know people that are getting married this year and could use a little inspiration.
Enjoy!

Shopping in the Uk #2

Another store that has won me over in the UK, is Dorthy Perkins. I bought the cutest pencil-cut skirt dress over there, last time I was in London. I noticed on their website that they are now shipping to Canada! How exciting!!!! So, here are a few more items that I really want. There was actually quite a bit, but I narrowed it down to these few pieces. Stuff that I'm really into right now.....like "Studs and Florals."  Enjoy!

Shopping in the UK

My Mother and one of my sisters are travelling to the UK in about a week. Since I am not going with them, I am giving my sister money and printed out pics of the sort of stuff that I want her to pick me up. I LOVE the selection of clothing and accessories from some of my favourite stores there. Here's a few things from one of those stores, "New Look".

You like? I do, and I'm very envious of all the great finds she will be purchasing over there! I hope that she remembers me...hint, hint!

Pixie

How cute is Pixie Geldof looking these days? Love her hair colour! This mauve-y, greyish hue seems to really be in this season! I love it on such a young looking face.

High Fashion: Braids and Chignons. Spring/Summer 2010

Today, I attended a "high fashion" hair styling class.  The main focus of the class, was to learn different styling techniques, based on what was featured on the runway for spring/summer 2010 in NYC. Many of these trends will be (in the salon) what are clients are asking for in the next couple of months.
There was a lot of braids and chignons. Classic styles, but all with a modern twist. Of course, I did not remember my camera, (silly me) or else I would have post the exact styles that I did on the mannequin head. (I would literally forget my head if it wasn't attached to me).
So, I am posting pics from the web. These are the closest styles, to the ones that I learned today.  All totally wearable and so feminine.
I love updating my skills each season, with educational classes and workshops......it is truly a great feeling to walk away from a class feeling re-inspired. As beauty professionals we NEED this!
Spring 2010 will be all about the "braid", and what you can do with it!

MAC- Liberty of London

I can't wait for Mac to launch their "Liberty of London" line of colours.
The packaging is amazing and the shades are totally fun for spring. Here's a sneak peak at a few items that I will be purchasing.

Tori Burch Sunglasses

Ok, so I did it! I bought the Tori Burch sunglasses that I loved so much from my previous post, "My spring wishlist".
I purchased the ones in midnight blue and I LOVE them!  I don't have the easiest face for glasses, since my nose is small....but these fit perfectly. Of course today its raining in Toronto, so I will have to wait for another day to wear them. For now, I will just have to look at the cute gold clutch case that it comes with and smile! Can't wait for Spring!!!!!
What will be your first spring purchase?

Winter Kate- Nicole Ritchie

Love some of these pics from the Spring/Summer "Winter Kate" line of clothing, designed ny Nicole Richie. So soft and summery, with a heavy 1970's influence. Love it! Nicole mentioned recently that her and Joel are infact engaged! Can't wait to see what her wedding dress will look like!!!

Versus is back!

After a five year hiatus, Donatella Versace is revamping the line with the help of designer Christpher Kane. Kane, born in Glasgow, attended the prestigious "Central St.Martins" school of design in London. (This is where many of the worlds most famous fashion designers have graduated from). Donatella saw the talent and potential in Christopher, and scooped him up to design for Versace's "Versus" line. I have to say that I love the 90's revival, with the pins and the studs. Stells and Co. thinks he's a major talent!

Love the hair in this ad!

Here's some pics from the Versus spring 2010 show.

The shoes in this line are killer! I want them all!!!!

Marc Jacob- spring 2010 makeup

I'm loving the theatrical, gothic-like makeup at Marc Jacobs spring 2010 show. (The hair you can tell was very much inspired by ballet dancers). Very pale faces and a certain air from the 80's "New Romantic" scene...... Siouxsie Sue, or Adam Ant, anyone?
I can't say this is an everyday (wear to the office) kind of look. But one can take certain elements from the look to update their style. That tight bun would not be very comfortable to wear, but I love it for the runway, especially because it lets the makeup really shine.
What do you think? What other runway looks for 2010 inspire you? What will you be changing/ updating for the new trends?
