MAC's new collection

MAC's latest makeup collection, dubbed "Temperature Rising" has been out in stores, for a couple of days now. (Here in Canada, anyways). I'm going tomorrow to check out all the goodies in person. I hope that all the collection hasn't sold-out!!

Makeup Brushes

Today, I wanted to write about makeup brushes. I am in serious need of updating my makeup kit and know that I will have to purchase some new makeup brushes.
When I first started building my kit....it was all about MAC makeup for me. And while they do have a good assortment of brushes, I realize that there are MANY more companies that carry great alternatives.

I obviously love blogging about all things beauty, and would love to hear what other makeup lovers have or want for their kits. So.....what makeup brushes are you currently obsessed with? Please leave a comment below and let me know!

Spring / Summer 2012- makeup trends

Here's a look at some of the best makeup trends from the Spring/Summer 2012 runways....

Derek Lam. This is one of my favourite looks this spring. Strong brow and lips

Jeremy Scott

Givenchy. I love this hair. It's a great transition for my clients who are growing out their fringe.

Louis Vuitton.  Natural makeup, with false lashes.

Michael Kors. Another of my favourite looks from the spring runways. Love those peach cheeks!

Soft, muted neutrals shown at Valentino.

What are your favourite makeup trends for Spring/Summer?

AAU show NYC spring 2012

I had the pleasure of working on the makeup team for the AAU spring 2012 show. AAU
(Academy of Art) is a University based in New York City, that shows it's collection along side other big designers at the Lincoln Center tents.
The look for this seasons collection was a modern neutral palette for the eyes, and a very soft natural lip.
Here are a few pics from the show!

The Beauty Board 2011

This was my first time at the annual "Beauty Board" event, put on by the lovely Stephanie Anne Daga. (Of BlushPretty). I attended the event with fellow blogger Anneke (of Rogue Beauty). We really weren't sure what to expect from the event, but we ended up having an amazing time!!!

Lots of brands (many Canadian, yea!!)  were in attendance. Brands like: Cheeky Monkey, Consonant, Avon/Mark, Vasanti, Revolution Organics, Covergirl, Olay, Secret, and Dalish.

Two companies that really stood out to me, were: Vasanti and Cheeky Monkey.

What I love about Vasanti Cosmetics, was that it had foundations and concealers to match women of ALL colours. Many lines seem to overlook women with darker skin colours, but not Vasanti. Another item I loved from there line were the lip glosses. They were super moisturizing!!!! I wanted all of them!!!
Plus, the two ladies working the Vasanti booth were super nice, and did a little makeup touch up for me....sadly I forgot to take a picture. The eye shadows however, seem to be made with a lot pigment!!! Anyone who knows me, knows that I don't like a wimpy shadow.....I like my shadows with a good punch of pigment!!! Vasanti did not disappoint!

Cheeky Monkey Cosmetics, was another brand that I just fell head-over-heels for. First off, the colour range is amazing! So many shades to fall for....my fav's were "pop my cherry" and "hungover". I will post pictures of the colours once I get a manicure! I have a serious weakness for nail polish and "Cheeky Monkey" is my new addiction!!!

Another notable mention is this cheek tint from Revolution Organics. I want it so bad. It wasn't for sale at the show, but Stephanie from Blush Pretty sells it at her shop on Queen st.

What do you think of the Beauty Board event? Will I see you there next year?

Adora- Kat Von D

I had written about Kat Von D's latest perfume, "Adora" in an earlier post.......Not so much about the actual fragrance, (hadn't smelt it at the time) but more so, about how I liked the makeup, her red hair and the Gothic feel to the ad.
I was in Sephora today and noticed that Adora comes in a rollerball size....... Perfect! Now, I don't have to feel guilty about spending roughly $75 on myself (for a full-size bottle), when I'm supposed to be holiday gift shopping for others.
The rollerball was a win-win situation.
The notes in this fragrance include: lychée, boysenberry, thyme, cassis, hyacinth, jasmine, mango, patchouli, sheer musk and amber wood.
Adora is available exclusively at Sephora.

Alexa Chung....Behind the Scenes (Elle uk)

Alexa Chung graces this month's cover of Elle UK.
She's extremely stylish, beautiful and has killer legs.....I'd like to hate her, but she's just really cool and seems pretty down to earth.
Check out the link below to a video on Elle TV, that shows the "behind the scenes" from the photo shoot.

MAC's Evil Queen

I LOVE the Disney Movie "Snow White". I would watch it over and over again as a child. I'm so excited that MAC has used the "Evil Queen" as part of their "Villainous Villains" collection. I can't wait to see it in person!!!
