I had the pleasure of working on the makeup team for the AAU spring 2012 show. AAU
(Academy of Art) is a University based in New York City, that shows it's collection along side other big designers at the Lincoln Center tents.
The look for this seasons collection was a modern neutral palette for the eyes, and a very soft natural lip.
Here are a few pics from the show!

For all the Make-up Artists out there.....
I have a question on preferred technique when it comes to applying foundation. Do you usually use a brush or a sponge? I was taught by an instructor that definitely preferred using a sponge, but I personally found that it uses almost double the product. However, I recently did purchase a foundation sponge from Sephora, which I really quite like. It just made me think about what most artists out there would use on a regular basis? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter, and also any new products that you just love!!!

Wedding Make-up
On Monday, I attended a bridal make-up course that featured current trend in wedding make-up. I loved the instructors approach to flawless skin and great brows. I have taken many make-up courses in the past, but it had been a while since I've done a full application. It felt good to be back transforming the face with make-up. The class inspired me to do a post featuring wedding make-up. Bridal season has started...and I;m sure that a lot of you (like me) know people that are getting married this year and could use a little inspiration.
Enjoy!

Wow, what a face!
I was looking through Sephora's Beauty and the Blog and came across a pic of such a beautiful face! This model Gwen at the Susan Woo show. Makeup artist Tina Turnbow (for Tarte cosmetics), did such a wonderful job with beautiful, under-stated makeup. I just loved this whole look....beautiful makeup on a beautiful model! I'm going to try this look on myself this weekend!!!
p.s. I really think that short "pixi-like" haircuts are coming back into fashion. I've had a lot more requests for them, from ladies young and old. It is the perfect cut to experiment with bolder hair colour, like seen on model Gwen. Doesn't have to be bleach blond...try brighter reds, or darker violets.

Make-up lesson
For Christmas, I purchased my Mother a make-up lesson at the salon that I work at. I have been telling her for years to update her look, but (like a lot of women) my Mother is stuck in a day-today makeup rut. Even though I have taken makeup schooling myself,..... I thought that I would leave it to the professionals to hand out advice. I work with a fantastic makeup artist who is very passionate about what she does, so I figured that it would be a good match. I've been telling my Mom to "get out of the eighties" for sometime now, and it is usually easier to take styling advice (whether it's make-up, hair, wardrobe etc.) from someone who is not related to you.
My Mother had her lesson last night and it really transformed her. It took years of her face and I could tell she was really happy with the results. We met up with one of my sisters after and right away she noticed (and complimented) the difference in my Mothers appereance. So, if you're not sure what to get a women who has everything, Stells and Co recommends a makeup lesson! Every women loves to feel beautiful!!!
What do you think of this Bobbi Brown book? Is it worth buying? What other books do you recommend?
