AAU show NYC spring 2012

I had the pleasure of working on the makeup team for the AAU spring 2012 show. AAU
(Academy of Art) is a University based in New York City, that shows it's collection along side other big designers at the Lincoln Center tents.
The look for this seasons collection was a modern neutral palette for the eyes, and a very soft natural lip.
Here are a few pics from the show!

Neulash Eyelash Enhancer

One of my girlfriends from work has the most amazing lashes. When I asked her what her secret was she mentioned that her cousin in Philadelphia had bought her a eyelash enhancing product called Neulash. I couldn't get over the results. I totally thought that she had eyelash extensions, not her natural ones.
So, in September (when I'm in NYC)....I'm definitely going to be picking up Neulash. Maybe I'll post  before and after pics!

Have you ever used this product or one like it?

All Saints Denim

I'm travelling to the UK at the end of May. (Yes, can't wait)!!! One the things that I'm super excited about is shopping at one of my all-time favourite clothing stores, All Saints Spitalfields.

One section (at AllSaints), that really stands out to me is their women's jeans
I could really use at least two new pairs.
Bar none, this is my favourite UK store to shop for denim. Their styles are current, well-made and down-right sexy. Whether you want skinny, straight leg, boyfriend, distressed, cropped, short, baggy ...whatever....AllSaints has it all!

Right now, I could see myself wearing both the Gunray and the Raysun pipe skinny styles. Love the distressed feel of the Raysun in particular. As for the Spring/Summer, I'm super into their Cropped Runner style.
The Cropped Runner jeans would be super hot  paired with: a bandeau, a loose (low-cut) tank and strappy sandals. Oh, and a hobo bag! Can you picture it? I can, it's my perfect spring/summer outfit. I can't wait until I'm in the UK again to shop at AllSaints!

Yes, I know that they have stores in the US (been to the one in NYC, it rocks)! Also, you can shop their store on-line (super easy).
I however, just get really excited about being in the UK and shopping at one of their stores. Check them out, you won't be disappointed!

NY Times- "The New Kids"

Since I'm leaving for NYC at the end of the week......I thought it would be fitting to post about some of the people who are running the New York club life. I love that there's a girl DJ on the list!!!
I don't know if my friends and I are going to have lots of energy for dancing at 3am, (after all the shopping we will be doing during the day) but it's always good to know who's in the know!

Here's the link to the article in the New York Times:

Dreaming of NYC...

I'll be heading down to New York City at the end of November. I go with the same great girlfriends every year and (since we missed our annual spring trip) I'm dieing with anticipation!

Two stores I simply love to shop when I'm in NYC is Topshop, (no surprise there) and Uniqlo.

I can't wait to see this +J line. Hope it's still there when I arrive. Love this model's hair too! It reminds me of when I had extensions in. I love messy hair. (When it's cool messy, with lots of disconnection).

Topshop......
How I love thee.....

Leopard sunglasses. Yes please!

This coat is to die for!
love high waisted skirts!

this leaf cuff is soooo fall!

I'm not sure if I would wear this, but it's so cute!

I'll take a pair of these!

Love, love, love knee high socks.

2009 INSPIRATIONS!!!

I can't believe another year is coming to an end. Good riddance I say......2009 was not the best year for me, (started off great, ended terribly). So, needless to say, I'm super pumped for 2010. I'm finally out of my aircast, can put on my dancing shoes, and welcome 2010 in with a bang!
Not to say 2009 was all bad, I did have some great moments. Travelled...exciting trips with  family and friends, watched some great films and was definitely inspired by the world of fashion and beauty.

Here's what made my list of top inspirations for '09:

1. NYC- Of course...it's at the top of my list. I write about New York all the time and have nothing but amazing things to say about this great city. Was super impressed by Willamsburg, Brooklyn. Totally want to go back, in for nothing else but the hot guys! :)

2. GLASGOW- 2009 was my second trip to Glasgow and I have to say that it was just as amazing as the first time I went there. If going to the UK, Glasgow shouldn't be overlooked. It's quite the hub of artistic energy, great fashion, music and amazing curry!! ( the best I ever had was on Sauciehall st...brilliant)!
I also have a serious weakness for Scottish men. Love those baby-blues!

3. MARC JACOBS- This man is brilliant and I have loved everything he has done this year. Not to mention he's looking amazing these days. Can't wait to see what he has up his sleeve for 2010.

4. HAIR AND MAKE-UP- This is on he list, not only is it because it is my job to know what the latest trends are for hair and makeup are, but because I am border line obsessed with the world of beauty. That's why I do what I do, to create and inspire. I wouldn't have it any other way.

5.1950's- This will probably be on my list every year. I love pin-ups and anything to do with the look of the 1950's.  Besides being somewhat of a feminist, I was born in the wrong era.

6. MADMEN- So now we've moved on to 1963. Don Draper, hot! Betty= my girl crush January Jones. I love the writing, the sets, the characters.....want to become Joany....is that too much to ask? (Joany minus her loser husband though).

7. FILMS- Topping my list of films for 2009 was Inglourious Bastards. Say what you will, but I still love Tarantino. I'm not so big on all the violence... but the acting, costumes, sets, storyline, were all superb. I still love that scence with Shosanna getting ready, (near the end) with the Bowie song playing in the background....AMAZING! My friend Erin will know what I'm talking about.

So, that rounds off my list of inspirations for 2009. I may have forgotten a few things, but this is what comes to mind right off the bat.  What has been a source of inspiration for you in '09? Anything in common?

NYC Randoms- Dec 09

I haven't really posted anything this week.......I know, I'm bad. Futhermore, I am nursing a wee bit of a hangover right now. (From a work party that my sister asked me to attend......boy, can those lawyers drink!) So, this  is going to be a "randoms" post of pics from a trip that I took, with girlfriends, to NYC...... and I promise to that the next couple of postings after this, won't be lame. :)
p.s. I really need some Advil
xo,
S.

Ok, this is a given. If you're up for the insanity, it's a great place to find some designer deals. The men's section is really worth a visit for all the chaps out there, looking for ties, jeans etc.

This is my artistic shot. lol
But seriously Marc Jacobs? LOVE him
(Below the ad were tiles made in remembrance of lost loves ones from 9-11. So sad).

This shot was taken while we were walking through Brooklyn. LOVE Brooklyn.
On a side note, we had the BEST brunch in Brooklyn, and for the life of me, I couldn't remember the restaurant's name. Well, I found the card for "Barberry" a couple of days ago. And really, I'm dying to go back.

This is the inside of the restaurant. Love the exposed brick!

Lastly, (this has nothing to do with NYC) but I really miss True Blood. When is season 3 airing?

All pics (except the first barberry), are courtesy of Stells and Co. Yeah!

Uniqlo- NYC

One store that I look forward to visiting while in New York City, is Uniqlo. Based out of Japan, Uniqlo offers a wide variety of staples for everyones wardrobe. I had been searching for an army green parka for a while now, and found exactly what I was looking for in Uniqlo! It's also a great place to pick up leggings. I can never have enough of those! So, next time your on Broadway in NYC, go check out their store. Another bonus, is that it's very close to Topshop!!! Love it!

BAG- NYC

One of my favourite clients told me about a store in NYC simply called, "BAG". (There's also a sister store, "SHOE". Not so much my style, but you may like it).
I am due for a new fall handbag. So, naturally I am super excited to check out this store. Situated in Nolita, BAG offers a wide variety of different styles of hobos, messengers, clutches and wallets. My client purchased this beautiful forest green leather wallet. Fantastic.
Here's some of my favourite styles from their website:

NYC- wishlist MK watch

One item that I will be looking for in NYC is a Michael Kors watch. I really like over-size womens watches that don't look too "dainty". The thing is, is that I can't decide which one I want. I first saw the army green style, but soon fell in lust with the tortoise shell and the pewter one. What's a girl to do?

I already have a black watch from French Connection that I love, but really would like another option. Which one do you like the best? Leave a comment and let me know!
