Spring/Summer trends part 2 of 2

The Strong Brow Put down the tweezers my friends. This new trend is all about a strong, natural brow...reminiscent of the 1980's. The eyebrow shape itself is still well-shaped and groomed, just fuller than seasons past. This look surprising suits a lot of women. This is one look I am embracing, (with help from my friend/eyebrow expert Anna) and I have to say that my naturally thin brows do look better fuller.
Pretty Pastels/1980's blush application I'm covering two different, inter-linking trends in this paragraph. Pastels were everywhere this season. Really pretty, floral shades...seen on eyes, cheeks and lips. Pinks, lilacs, and greens were the most on display. One huge trend that I've seen on the runways and in magazines was the blush technique, again reminiscent of the 1980's. Blush is applied high on the cheekbone, right up....connecting with the eyelid. This is different then just applying blush to the apple of the cheek. It's very current...try it with a light shade of blush, and work your way from there to something more dramatic.
The Bun
The Bun is back in a big way this season. What I really love about this up-style, is that it can be worn both elegant and casual. The braided bun was very popular on the runways, and is an easy style to re-create at home. If you have curly hair, start with a mid-ponytail and bobby pin up different sections to create a soft, romantic take on this classic style.
So, just to re-cap....
these are the essential, must-haves for Spring/Summer 2009:
-black kohl eyeliner
-red lipstick
-bronzer
-pastel eyeshadow,blush and/or lipstick
-curling iron
-haircut
This weekend I'll be going through my makeup kit to see what different looks I can create for myself this spring/summer. I'm also going to New York City in a few weeks, (soooo excited).....there I'll be doing a drugstore haul of products we can't get here in Canada. I'll be like a kid in a candy store!!!!
xo,
S.
